That is interesting. That story may be true, but we actually created the company due to a need from a number of local farmers who wanted phone service.  So that may have been one of the reasons a couple of the farmers wanted to start a local phone company, but many more just wanted service in general.
 
I checked with some of the Doyle family employees, whose family founded the company in 1914, and they had not heard that story. But it doesn't mean it's not true.</description>
