Many years ago, CTA rebranded its annual conference and tradeshow to remove the words from the acronym. It makes sense, as CES is so much more than consumer electronics.
Reflecting on the 2024 event, a more appropriate acronym might be “Connections, Experiences and Synapses.” That is, meeting up with old and new friends at CES has the mind racing. This issue features a few of the ideas and developments from some of the people Viodi filmed at CES2024.

A Reimagined Car Experience – From Concept to Delivery
The future of car manufacturing is undergoing a radical transformation, with the entire process being reimagined from design to delivery. We caught up with Princeton Professor/Smart Driving Cars’ Alain Kornhauser and one of his former students, Nvidia’s VP of Automotive, Danny Shapiro. Happy Birthday, Ma.tt
This post is Matt Mullenweg’s birthday present. It is 100% human-generated and written using the WordPress app while on an airplane. - As always, Marc Scribner has a “reasoned” view regarding automating mobility. His latest article is worth a read as it provides an insightful take on the status of autonomous mobility.

The Korner – A Not So Boring Ride with Dr. Kornhauser and Dr. Monroe – #ces2024
A joy ride is one way to describe this video that documents SmartDrivingCars/Princeton’s Dr. Kornhauser and Dr. Monroe’s first adventure through the Boring Company’s Las Vegas tunnel. This brief sojourn under the massive Las Vegas Convention Center at CES2024 provides a glimpse of things to come, as this is the start of a larger network.
Of course, the only network that matters is the human network. Internet/Broadband and physical mobility are inextricably linked. These two networks both remove the friction of distance and enhance those precious times when face-to-face communications are possible.
To be more concrete, thanks to the power of low-cost and multiple forms of communication (e.g., short messages, email, video conferencing), it is easier than ever to catch up with the people in one’s life (life and network could be used interchangeably).
Amidst all the announcements of CES2024, the highlight for this author was the face-to-face connection with old and new friends from around the world.
Lastly, a big thank you to two of those friends, Alain and Elizabeth for their generosity and for sharing their most precious commodity – time – with me.
