The live show is very similar to the Real Wheel videos in that it stresses the importance of “dreaming big.” and doing one’s job passionately.

It is clear that Dave Hood is passionate about entertaining and educating kids. And the kids were clearly entertained, as through a series of skits and interactive videos, he managed to keep the attention of a sizable crowd of the preschool set for over an hour. The kids were always on the edge of their seat, hoping they would be picked to help put out an imaginary fire or catch one of the many tee-shirts Dave threw into the audience.

Even when the skits did not work, they worked. With encouragement from his great grandfather, the great Hoodini (who appeared via video), Dave Hood captivated the preschool set with magic tricks. One magic trick literally fell apart when he dropped a light bulb. It appeared as if this was part of the act, as he immediately sang a song about the importance of trying again after making a mistake; resilience is another important value he imparts in his video and stage show.

The real judge of the success of his show was from the comments of my five year old. He loved the pre-show trivia that appeared on the video screen (of course, I had to read the questions to him). He, like probably the rest of his peers, longed to be in the the audience participation portions of the show. His favorite of portion of the show was when Dave made his able assistance, Sara, disappear and reappear. Clearly, if five year olds new about the tradition of raising a lighted lighter at concert curtain call, the place would have been in flames.

To find out more about the Real Wheels Live tour, go to http://www.davemovies.com/indexhispd.htm

Next Article

Back to Main Page

All displayed trademarks, logos and service marks are the property of their respective owners. © 2004, Viodi, LLC.
