Bringing the Heartland to Hollywood

Welcome and Happy New Year:

The dawning of a new year brings new resolutions and new opportunities. And, one of the opportunities we are bringing this year is the chance to hear directly from the Hollywood content people. In this issue of the Viodi View, we describe some of the latest news regarding the Independent Telco Video Content Conference, as well some other Interactive Television tidbits that will be of interest to Independent Telcos.

Independent Telco Video Content Conference News:

By popular demand, a session has been added to the Independent Telco Video Content Conference that features speakers from service providers that have successfully deployed video and other interactive services against incumbent cable. In other news, ACE members will get association pricing, while early bird pricing has been extended until January 20th. Click here for the latest information..

Churn – We Aren’t Talking Butter:

Churn is the cable industry’s five letter word. For the nice stable telephony business, however, churn has been a foreign term, mostly used in conjunction with a dairy or a shyster stock broker. Well, churn is a term that needs to be added to the lexicon of the independent telcos. So, what’s the solution? Get some ideas from one independent telco that has successfully deployed cable television services….. Learn more about the challenge of churn by clicking here.

Movielink to the Bedroom?

As readers may recall, my attempt to follow up on my November review of the Movielink service was met with disappointment, as chronicled in the December issue of the Viodi View. I am happy to report the service works once again and that I think I may have discovered a new segment where this service could potentially find some success – “The too cheap to buy a television for the bedroom” market segment…..Click here to read the follow up to the review of this movie download service
