Questions, questions, questions, part 2

Have questions for speakers at next month’s Independent Telco Video Content Conference? An easy to use bulletin board system has been posted at http://www.viodi.com/forum/. You can log in as a guest, so that your posting will be anonymous to the outside world. Then simply click on “Conference Questions” in the drop down menu in the lower right and then select “New Topic” to add a question. The speakers are reviewing these questions and will be addressing these, as appropriate during their sessions.

StreamingTV article posted to club.viodi.com

Attention club.viodi members, an article on the streaming television concept has been posted to the web at club.viodi.com. This is a telco-only site that is currently in beta release. Look for upgrades to it and the public side of the Viodi web site in the next month. If you are an independent telco and desire access to club.viodi, please email us at [email protected].

Dave Hood Entertainment Follow-Up

I intended to provide a link to Dave Hood’s web page last month in last month’s article about the cool kid’s video he creates, but forgot. Based on the response to that article I should have had some links. So, the link to Dave’s site is http://www.davehoodentertainment.com. While you are there peruse the many titles he has available. They are a great gift for kids or grandkids, as you don’t have to worry about the characters in his content.

Privacy Please:

I am pleased and surprised at the number of new subscribers to the Viodi View. People are finding the Viodi View from all points on the web. A question arose a few weeks ago regarding Viodi’s privacy policy. I always wondered when someone would ask that question. The short answer is that I have not taken the time to formulate a policy.

Here is my 50,000-foot view of what the privacy policy should encompass:.

  1. The Viodi View subscriber shall be able to choose what level of information they receive from Viodi and/or its partners.
  2. Viodi will do its best to reasonable protect the data of its subscribers, but will not be held liable for errors, omissions or the mistakes or misdeeds of third-party database management, web hosts or other entities which are required to realize either the print or online versions of the Viodi View.

Regarding point number one, I could see where some Viodi View subscribers would want total privacy and not want any information about them released. On the other hand, there will be certain subscribers that actually want us to provide their information to prospective customers or even suppliers. The implication is that we need to do a little modification to our online database.

Regarding point number two, we do use a third-party to host our database, as well as another one to host our web site. Although they claim that they will protect our data, we are relying on their integrity, competence and ability to secure their sites in a world that is constantly under attack from hackers. Additionally, there is always the chance that Viodi could make a mistake and the next thing you know everyone sees the “TO:” list [I always cringe for the poor person who makes this mistake on mass emails that I see everyone once in awhile].

Now, I just need the official wording and legalese to make this official. If anyone has any suggestions for additions, modifications or legalese, please forward them on to me.

Thanks,

Ken
