It was ironic that while Dan Eisenhardt of Intel was speaking of a world where information will be provided hands-free via smart glasses, my smart phone was rendered inoperable because of a low-storage condition (this apparently happens to others as well). The ensuing 15 minutes of figuring out what to delete and what could be deleted without accidentally wiping out a cloud back-up was reminiscent of the frustration chronicled here so many years ago, when I pleaded with technology makers to Quit Battering My Self-Esteem. Eleven years later and the platforms may have changed, but the frustration is still the same. If Eisenhardt is correct, then in 15 years we will ditch our hand-held screens for screens we wear on our face, but will the technology frustration go away?

Interacting with computers using natural language has become the norm in the past couple of years thanks to the efforts of tech stalwarts like Apple, Amazon, Google and Microsoft. Comcast has simplified search, discovery and control with its Xfinity Remote with voice control, which allows one to interact with television via voice. With 20% of searches reportedly via voice, it is clear that humans are increasingly expecting to interact with computers like they would another human. The question is how can smaller operators compete with these tech giants by offering similar conversational voice interfaces?
