The features of a car but roughly the size of a motorcycle describes the vehicle classification known as an autocycle. Electra Meccanica Vehicles’ Solo is the quintessential autocycle with the features of an automobile (e.g. enclosed, heat/cooling, radios, a backup camera, etc.) built on a compact frame that features three-wheels.
Unlike a motorcycle, a helmet isn’t needed for operation. The trunk and frunk provide 285 liters of enclosed storage. And the performance is impressive as 0-60 MPH is about 8 seconds, with approximately 100 miles range and 3 (220 VAC) to 6 hours (110 VAC) for a full charge. Electra Meccanica evolved from a 50+year old company. As of January 2018, had approximately 19,000 pre-orders for the Solo, which has a base price of $15,500.
