Andy Kessler makes a compelling argument in Monday’s Wall Street Journal that improved logistics is the secret behind the longest U.S. economic expansion on record. Robust telecom infrastructure is a key element to the supply chain revolution he describes as it provides the linkage between demand and supply assuring the right product is delivered at the right time to the right consumer; preventing inventory build-ups and write-offs of decades past. Similarly, broadband providers are improving their efficiency by using techniques such as crowd-sourcing buildouts, deploying networks that allow multiple use-cases on a single fiber, and the deployment of analytics to better understand demand.

Magna, the huge vehicle OEM, is pondering this question and displayed some of their early thinking on this topic at CES2019. Although much of what was shown at CES2019 is in still in the Research and Development stage, they are looking at prototype readiness in the next year to OEMs with production to follow.
