The Independent Show

Feeling the Energy with Gary Shorman at #TIS22

Gary Shorman, past Chair of NCTC, speaks about the energy of face-to-face interaction at the 2022 Independent Show (TIS). It is the impromptu side conversations that only happen in real life that provide a great deal of value to a conference like TIS22.

This conference brings together leaders of leaders. As Shorman says, ACA Connects/NCTC members work together to improve the industry and their respective communities. The relationships formed at the Independent Show are more than skin deep, as they are based on a shared commitment to making a difference.

He points to Matt Polka, whose retirement as ACA Connects first CEO coincided with TIS22, as exemplifying what the members do daily. Shorman comments that it was difficult to keep a dry eye at Matt’s retirement celebration, as it involves family and personal relationships.

Gary calls himself a “bad quitter” as he stays active working with Eagle Communications, NCTC, and volunteer activities.
