Are websites a metaphor for human life? Does the baggage associated with maintenance, sap the energy required to create new content? The long and short of it is that if you can’t read these words on the Viodi website, there is still an issue with excessive Inode (Index-node) usage. Just like natural human wear and tear, this excessive Inode usage (and other bad stuff) happens with a 23+-year-old website where content is prioritized over the organization and optimization of said content.
Regarding the second question, this issue features a couple of examples of people who have taken their knowledge of one field and applied it to a new field. Instead of resting on their laurels, they push the limits by stepping outside their comfort zones. Their journeys remind me of a source of continuing inspiration, Ronnie Lott, and his advice that “You Have to Be a Rookie Again.”

Virtual Vengeance – Today’s Reality
One of the great things about working for the Broadband Forum is that it opens up a new world of experiences and connections. It was a privilege to meet one of the stars of broadband, Tom Starr, at the Broadband Forum’s 2024 Fall Meeting. It was a surprise to learn that he also is an accomplished novelist.

Host, Jason Walls of QA Cafe (and Director of the Broadband Forum’s BUS work area) and Paul Keator talk about the importance of the TR-069/TR-369, and TR-181 standards for ensuring interoperability and migration paths for operators to deploy new services.
2024 Broadband Forum Innovations – Introduction Video
As promised in the previous issue of the Viodi View, this link has a brief 90-second overview of the Broadband Forum’s Innovation Demonstrations. Filmed in Paris, this video offers a glimpse of the hard work of the many vendors and service providers who made this year’s demonstrations possible. The demonstrations show the power of open standards and open broadband software to help operators improve operations and product offerings.

- Longtail content can be much more valuable than what the “views” metric might present, as evidenced by the recent comment on this Roger Bindl filmed and edited video with Howard Sherpe. The comments shed light on a difference it made in one person’s life.
- The right prompt was, “What would Tim Spets wear?” It may sound trite, but Z-Factor rocked it with the design.
