CES2025 – Tech Breaking Down Barriers
Using machines to leverage human capabilities was the theme of ViodiTV coverage of CES2025. The more than 25 interviews that touch upon this theme will be published throughout 2025. Giving Autonomy to Humans – A Brief Test (YouTube)
In this brief demonstration, dotLumen’s Dr. Robert Gutt oversees this reporter’s brief test of their glasses that help the blind navigate the world without a seeing-eye dog. Using the same principles as an autonomous vehicle, dotLumen gently guides the user through vibrations on the forehead. One only has to center the vibrations to establish a direction. It is fascinating to see the melding of the machine (sensing, path creation) and human (walking).

A Look Inside CES 2025” with Ken Pyle… (YouTube)
Zooming out, thank you to Jason Walls’ Epik Melon for hosting yours truly on his Epik Melon podcast. It was a wide-ranging discussion about some of the things at CES2025 that made an impression. From robots to self-propelled trailers to small modular nuclear reactors, we discussed some of the well-known announcements along with some of the hidden CES2025 gems.
Some Chirps and Short Thoughts #
- The recent Net Neutrality court ruling brought me down a rabbit hole to almost 20 years ago and a Jeff Pulver VON conference. FCC Chair Michael Powell alluded to the Internet freedoms that guided the FCC. He also warned that the VoIP industry would have to work with the government to solve 911 issues, protect legitimate law enforcement agency concerns, and advance the notion of Universal Service and affordability for all.
- Make it make sense – at $.07 per subscriber C-SPAN carriage is a no-brainer and a great public service opportunity.
- What he said – “Interoperability is crucial to ensuring the high-quality connectivity that fiber delivers remains ubiquitous throughout the home and subscriber experience,” said Ken Pyle, Director of Marketing at the Broadband Forum. “We’re eager to curate the 2025 PoC program at Fiber Connect and discover the new innovative collaborations among our members that will further advance our industry and connectivity across North America.”

Jimmy Todd and the Fiber Broadband Association crew pulled off the perfect conference entrance at FiberConnect 2024.
