Six continents represented, eight Innovation Demonstrations displayed, and multiple BASe sessions presented are some of the numbers linked to the Broadband Forum’s contributions to the 2025 Network X conference in Paris. The numbers, though, don’t convey the impact of face-to-face events, like Network X. The links below offer a glimpse of the Broadband Forum’s Innovation Demonstrations. Stay tuned for more detail on each Innovation Demonstration, as well as the BASe sessions that discuss, among other things, AI in the Network.

Standards, Innovation, and Confidence
The importance of industry standards, Motive’s role in their development, and the critical function of technology demonstrations in proving those standards are the key focus of this interview with Jeevithan Muttu of Motive.
Innovation bootcamp: Turning standards into reality
“Forget dry white papers – the Broadband Forum’s Innovation Demonstrations are a high-intensity ‘bootcamp’ for every company involved.” That is how Broadband Forum Member and Outsys Chief Solution Officer Fabrizio Guidotti described the intensive, half-a-year-long effort that brought global broadband standards to life.
2025 Innovation Demonstrations Overview
The last few years it has become a tradition to visit Lincoln Lavoie in his native habitat at UNH-IOL. In this Network X video, filmed at UNH-IOL, he provides a high-level overview of each Innovation Demonstration.
Why a solid data foundation is key for the proactive Broadband Service Provider
Thanks to Incognito’s Ladi Astrab and Motive’s Randy Van Buren for co-authoring this article, which summarizes the panel we shared with Uniti Group’s Josh Angotti at SCTE TechExpo25. At the bottom of the article is a best effort recording of the panel. In that video, Angotti highlights why a so-called “AI-bubble” won’t impact the deployment of AI in telecom networks.
Some Chirps and Short Thoughts:
- A concrete battery could be interesting way to store energy, particularly if it is possible to charge and discharge via wireless means. Perhaps, this will be synergistic with Magment (as seen in this 2018 ViodiTV interview).
- Excellent summary of a paper showing the results of Google’s “Learn Your Way“. In a nutshell, Google has remade the textbook into a personalized learning tool. It customizes the content in a form that a person will embrace, engage and learn.
- This post takes me back to 2022 and the presentation that Eric Rajchel, PE of Vantage Point Solutions gave at the Broadband Forum‘s BASe event at the Fiber Broadband Association‘s FiberConnect where he explained how a beetle held up a broadband project. Part of the solution to getting things back on track was using raw chicken as bait.
The Korner – Solving the Airport’s Last Mile Challenge
At CES 2025, Rajeev Ramanth of Blueberry Technology, Ltd. described their innovative solution to a perennial challenge in air travel: unreliable and unpredictable mobility assistance. Their new product, BB Go, is a fully autonomous personal vehicle designed to transform the travel experience for mobility-challenged passengers.
An autonomous wheelchair was almost needed after this stumble that came close to destroying the trade show booth.
