If only the FCC & FAA had read and acted on the November 30th, 2020 Viodi View article, perhaps the 5G C-Band kerfuffle would not be headline news today. That article provided an overview of the RTCA’s study of the potential for interference between 5G radios and radio altimeters. Most of the current discussion seems to be around commercial aviation, but there are other use-cases, such as helicopters, that merit further study, and testing.
From a 56k World to Tomorrow’s Metaverse – A CES2022 Preview
“We’ll be ducking in and out of the metaverse for these immersive digital experiences, and that’s why I say they will eventually become inextricably linked with our physical reality,” predicts Steve Koenig, VP of Research for the Consumer Technology Association (CTA). A big takeaway from this Viodi interview with Koenig at CES2022 is that the technology building blocks are available to build the next generation of the web; the so-called metaverse. As Koenig alludes to, although we have come a long way from the funny sounds of a dial-up modem, we are still at the beginning of a world that will be completely changed in 2045 by the trends seen in 2022.
The Foundation of the Connected Home
“It was really important to start off our day talking about really the foundation of the smart home, which is the connectivity layer,” says Jennifer Kent, Vice President, Research, Parks Associates. In the above interview, Kent provides an overview of the panel she moderated which featured a mix of in-home connectivity providers and a service provider. This panel set the stage for the rest of the CONNECTIONS™ Summit at CES 2022 as the home network has to be solid, reliable, and secure, stresses Kent.
Smart Infrastructures, Smart Cities, Smart Homes, and Smarter Health Tech
“What I’ve noticed is that you can have opportunities to have longer conversations and more interesting conversations with people than you might if it were as crowded as it usually is., says Tom Coughlin, President of Coughlin Associates. The above interview was filmed at a much quieter than usual CES, but, as Coughlin points out, it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for those who were there to experience this one-of-a-kind conference without the typical crowds.
Get Paid to Ride
Through its back-end software, Israeli-based Enroute enables local retailers to deliver a shopping experience within a mobility service (e.g. rideshare, bus, train, or other public transit). In practice, this means that the retailer could subsidize or even pay for the ride. Enroute co-founder/CEO Aviv Frenkel provides an overview of the offering at CES2022.

The Korner – An Eyewitness View of the LVCC Loop – #CES2022
One of the CES2022 highlights was under the show floor. The LVCC Loop made its CES debut quietly hauling attendees between the West and Central Halls of the Las Vegas Convention Center.
With speeds of up to 40 MPH, it takes approximately two minutes to cover the 1/2 mile journey between the West and Central Halls. It can reportedly carry up to 4,400 people per hour with its 70 Teslas.
Te LVCC Loop is the first step in a larger 29-mile long network that will connect the LVCC with downtown, the Vegas Strip, and beyond. The question is whether this Vegas Loop will become an amusement park ride novelty or part of a solution that improves mobility in an oft-congested urban core?
