MaskFone, a combination face mask, and Bluetooth microphone and earbuds will be available at some Target stores and on Amazon in late January, according to Binatone.
With replaceable medical-grade filters (PM2.5 or N95/FFP2), a fit that allows glasses to sit on top of the mask to prevent steaming, and comfortable, washable Twill fabric, the MASKFONE serves its primary purpose of protection.
MaskFone adds 8-hours of audio playtime, convenient controls, and the added functionality of hand-free calls, without having to remove the mask.
This is just the start, as at the Pepcom CES2021 virtual event, Binatone VP of Sales, Marty Urick, indicated that the next generation, the MegaFone, will have a built-in speaker to literally amplify one’s voice. It will also feature a mesh feature that will allow for direct communications to other nearby masks without the need for a phone as an intermediary.
